We would like to take you back to a time when “husky” married girls made model employees. A time when it was presumed that women required several rest breaks to tidy their hair and apply fresh lipstick. We recently came across a guide for hiring women published in 1943, during World War II. As an office predominantly staffed by ladies we can’t help but laugh a little at some of these vintage tips. Here are some of our favourite excerpts from this article:

 1. Pick young married women. They usually have more of a sense of responsibility than their unmarried sisters, they’re less likely to be flirtatious, they need work or they wouldn’t be doing it.

Groan, we know. But turn that frown upside down because nobody likes a Grinch. I was told before I left for my visit to Copenhagen that I would love it, "it's just so efficient" a friend gushed. For a normal person "efficient" isn't the optimal word you would want to describe your vacation, but for me it sounded like utopia. These Danes are not only more efficient than us, they are so much cooler. Even the nerds are 6ft tall, blond, strikingly beautiful, and much too cool to: give directions, greet me in a shop/restaurant, or basically acknowledge my existence at all. Trust me, it's true.
